fallen bearded iris in late MayI got a little snap happy on acquiring an upgraded iPhone. It spurred an ambition to play with photography. I tended to shoot fast and ask questions later, such as . . . “What in the heck was I thinking?”

Then a friend who is a professional photographer said, “Always look for the story in the picture.”

I still shoot fast but now kill 99 percent of the images if “there is no there there” (to repurpose Gertrude Stein’s famous line).

How lucky we are now to have digital and so can afford to discard 99 out of 100 photographs until we find the one with the most interesting story… I also love that we can adjust the photos as needed…colors etc.
