One of my favorites is, “Oh really, must be nice!” Yeah, well, when the muse is kind, it’s all good, but if she’s feeling pugnacious, not so much….. 😉
Naturally, though the gauze of inexperience and raffish naïveté, this seems perfectly reasonable to me.
“What do you write?”
“Poetry.”
“Oh……are those spanakopetes they just brought out to the table? I love spanakopetes…”
Where can I find you on the shelf?
Ha!
Never had that one. My favourite is: “Have I heard of you?” Not being a mind-reader, I never know what to say.
Ah yes, the optimism of the writer who just “knows” that the next book is THE one to make it to the best seller list. I’ve been there, but I’ve never asked an editor to put on the rose-colored glasses with me! 😉
Love it, Lorna!
